Oklahoma’s Workforce
Labor force participation rate as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics is the percentage of the civilian noninstitutional population aged 16 years and older that is working or actively looking for work. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis utilizing the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, in the third quarter of 2023, Oklahoma had a workforce participation rate of 62.5% compared to the national average of 62.7%. In addition, based on an interim study conducted in October 2023 by the Oklahoma Senate, of all the people not participating in the workforce, 57.2% are 55 and older and only 25% are in the prime working years of ages 25- 54. 2023 Labor Market
