2023 Voice of the Workforce
Autonomy helps us understand how much say employees have in how their work gets done. In general, higher levels of autonomy in our work can lead to higher levels of engagement and job satisfaction as it relates to self- determination theory. Self-determination theory suggests that humans have an intrinsic desire for personal growth. Most respondents indicated that they can determine how their work is done, they can do their work in their own way, and can make decisions about their work. Autonomy
