Creating an Inspiring Employee-centric Team

Dr. Pearl Sumathi — Assistant Professor of Practice for the Department of Management in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University

Developing a highly engaged team requires skills taught beyond what you learn in management essentials. According to State of the Global Workplace (Dec. 2017) report, 85% of employees are not engaged or actively dis- engaged at work. This results in $7 trillion in lost productivity. The key is methodically building a purpose-driven team by taking an empathetic approach. Human-centered design (HCD) is a problem-solving process grounded in empathy and the needs of the people for whom the process is designed. By adopting this framework, managers can create a collaborative process of managing a team with practices and processes that keeps the needs of employees in its center. At the end of the seminar you will be able to: • Implement the critical ingredients of human-centered design to impart exceptional employee experience to your teams. • Invigorate the purpose of your team by empowering and unlocking their potential. • Learn and create prototyped solutions that you can implement immediately back in your teams. • Develop relationships with other industry people leaders who can also become your peer coaches. This seminar is sponsored by the Department of Management and the Center for Executive and Professional Development in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Participants earn 0.3 to 0.6 con- tinuing education units (CEUs) depending on the seminar’s length. » KORN FERRY COMPETENCIES Collaborates | Communicates effectively | Manages complexity | Customer focus | Develops talent | Directs work | Drives engagement | Cultivates innovation | Drives results | Strategic mindset
